About Our Company

How we started
Brave Crow Comics started in 2000 and are located in Turtle Lake, North Dakota. Two cousins got together and decided to start making use of their talents, Artist ORVILLE EVJEN and Editor DIANE EVJEN SCHELL worked together to create 3 amazing books! Orville Evjen is the artist, and is driven by his love for comic books, his ancestory, and artistic talent. Orville is half Norwegian and half Norh American Indian Souix of the Lakota Standing Rock Tribe of North and South Dakota. He was blessed with having his great-grand mother living with him while he was growing up on his ranch in South Dakota. Orville great grandmother Juliet Bravecrow spent most of her life in Bullhead, South Dakota, which was the same area where Cheif Sitting Bull was shot and killed! Orville grandmother spent a lot of time telling stories that were passed on to her about the famous Cheif, and her people. DIANE EVJEN SCHELL has always liked history, english and writing, so this job is a lot of fun. The challenge of researching just makes her day. Diane grew up in Underwood, North Dakota and near Washburn, North Dakota where Lewis and Clark stayed with the Mandan Indians. Also not to far away in Medora, North Dakota where President Roosevelt has a cabin! Both her and Orville's grand parents lived in the wild west settler era whose parents sailed over from Norway in the 1800's. Diane and I work well together, with many of the same ideas, will continue to create books to captivate your intersest and imagination. link to more info
